Mr. Walsh was born and raised in Mt. Vernon, N. Y.
He served in the United States Marine Corps. during the first World War.
After the War, he received his degree in Mortuary Science from the
Renourad School in New York City. He came to Central Islip in the
1920's to work for the widow of the original owner Robert McBreen.
He then purchased the business from her and renamed it Walsh Funeral Home.
He met and married the former Margaret Breinlinger a life resident of
Central Islip in September 1940 and had one son,
Thomas, Jr.
He belonged to many organizations in the community. The American
Legion, Moose Lodge, Central Islip Fire Department, Knights of Columbus
and was chairman of the Memorial Day Parade Committee for many years.
He continued to operate the funeral Home until his death in May of
1963.
